Watermelon Mountain Ranch is a non-profit organization and New Mexico's largest no-kill animal shelter. We were established in 1996 to create a safe place for homeless, abandoned and abused pets. We are a pet placement organization that is made up of our volunteers and a small paid staff to care for our animals daily.

To foster the animal-human bond, WMR supports the efforts that encourage the positive interaction of children, adults and seniors with animals through outreach, educational, interactive and therapeutic programs. Our other programs include the Kids at Risk Animal Welfare Program, Grief Support Group, 4-H and many more.

We also create awareness of the importance of neutering and or spaying of pets and responsible pet ownership. There are many abandoned, abused and neglected pets due to an over population.
